Steve Martin began writing as a student and had his first big break as a comedy writer for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour when he was fresh out of college.  He has continued writing for television and movies, winning many awards.

In recent years he has ventured into other areas -- writing pithy essays for magazines, writing plays, and most recently, writing novellas.

And a caveat:  the pieces offered here are intended to let the student of Steve compare versions of different pieces or to access some that are very hard to find.  They are not intended as a substitute for buying the original books wherever possible. I have not included pieces from Cruel Shoes -- buy it too.
